Smokefree 2030

Every year tens of thousands of people die prematurely from smoking, with thirty times as many suffering from cancer, cardiovascular, respiratory disease and dementia caused by smoking.

England, Scotland and Wales all have smokefree ambitions, England and Wales to be smokefree by 2030, Scotland by 2034 (defined as adult smoking rates of 5% or less). Analysis by CRUK shows none are on track to deliver. On current trends England will miss the smokefree 2030 ambition by 9 years, and more than double that for the most disadvantaged in society.
