Smoking is a childhood addiction

Let's put tobacco out of sight and out of reach

The Smokefree Action Coalition is campaigning to put tobacco out of sight and out of reach of children and we need your support.

Two thirds of smokers take up the habit before they reach adulthood - this is an addiction of childhood, not an adult choice.

The Government's Health Bill 2009 contains measures to prohibit the display of tobacco at the point of sale in order to protect children from tobacco industry marketing and promotion. It also includes measure to restrict the sale of tobacco from vending machines to prevent children from easily accessing tobacco.

The Smokefree Action Coalition wants the Government to go further banning the sale of tobacco from vending machines and removing all branding from tobacco products leaving plain packs with only the product name and the health warning.
